Kudos/Congratulations (Week of April 14, 2025)

Ron Kuka (Creative Writing Program Coordinator) was chosen as one of the recipients of the 2024-25 Judith S. Craig Distinguished Service Award, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the College or University throughout their career. Ron was also selected as the recipient of the 2025 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Leadership at the Individual Unit level, recognizing his decades of extraordinary leadership in the Creative Writing Program.

Emily Hall (Director of WAC, Writing Fellows) was selected as the recipient of the 2025 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Leadership at the level of the College, School, and Larger University Community, recognizing her cross-campus leadership in building a culture of writing at UW-Madison.

Emily Hall and Abby Letak (Associate Director of WAC) won the 2025 L&S Collaborative Teaching Excellence Award for their work together in the Writing Across the Curriculum program.

Jacee Cho received one of the inaugural Excellence in Honors Thesis Advising awards from the L&S Honors program last Friday. She was nominated by her advisee, Sophie Boes, in recognition of Jacee’s extraordinary mentorship and guidance.

Raquel Kennon’s newest article, “Birthing New Black Sentences: Reflections on Black Maternal Health and Healing in Gwendolyn Brooks’s Maud Martha for Our Present Time,” is available online and will appear in an upcoming issue of  Women’s Studies.
