Professor Mark Vareschi announced as 2022-23 Vilas Associate

Congratulations to Professor Mark Vareschi, who has been selected as one of 26 faculty winners of the Vilas Associates Competition. The competition recognizes “new and ongoing research of the highest quality and significance.” Tenure-track assistant professors and tenured faculty within 20 years of their tenure date are eligible.

Professor Vareschi’s first book, Everywhere and Nowhere, considered the ubiquity of anonymity and mediation in the publication and circulation of eighteenth-century British literature—before the Romantic creation of the “author”—and what this means for literary criticism.
