Bio
Lisa Marvel Johnson’s research and praxis operate at the intersections of digital pedagogies, antiracist teaching, and writing assessment, with particular attention to asynchronous learning environments. She examines how writing centers can design equitable, responsive structures that support student writers while critically engaging emerging technologies.
Lisa’s scholarly background in contemporary African American literature informs her approach to writing instruction, where close reading, critical theory, and sustained attention to equity shape both her pedagogy and administration. At the same time, her work in writing pedagogy influences her approach to teaching and analyzing literature, where she emphasizes the relationship between interpretation, audience, and power.
