From 10:12 am on April 14th to 5:00 pm on April 15th, UW-Madison’s Annual Day of the Badger spans for 1,848 minutes, reflecting the University’s founding in 1848. The Day of the Badger is a special day in which students, faculty, staff, alumni, and family can demonstrate their badger pride by wearing red, participating in campus activities, and/or supporting one of UW’s many worthwhile causes, programs, or initiatives.
The Day of the Badger is a philanthropic celebration that crucially helps both the university and the people who make it. Additionally, it is intended to foster connection, solidarity, and support across the Badger community. As we count down the days in preparation to give, here are several ways in which you can help support the English department and associated causes this Day of the Badger.
Scholarship Initiatives and Funds: If you are interested in supporting one of UW-Madison’s numerous scholarship initiatives, programs, or funds, there are several paths available to do so. Giving to the Chancellor’s Annual Fund will help contribute to the available funds for students in need of financial assistance. In addition to that, participating in the Great People’s Annual Scholarship Challenge will help support merit-based scholarship programs like Bucky’s Tuition Promise, Bucky’s Bell Pathway, and the BANNER Scholarship. Lastly, the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Chapter Scholarships give need-based financial assistance to incoming students across the country who would not be able to attend the university without it.
Student Experiences: If you wish to give in support of one of the many ways in which UW-Madison provides valuable resources and programs to students, there are several ways in which you can do so. Participating in the Library Challenge helps to make a serious difference; UW-Madison’s libraries protect knowledge, provide valuable academic resources, and enhance cultural understanding and academic success. Additionally, UW-Madison’s Libraries are essential to further support Humanities disciplines, like English. On top of that, Mental Health Support, Student Affairs, and Student Success and Belonging Initiatives are all additional programs in which you can give to help support the university’s students and their experiences.
Schools, Colleges, and Academic Programs: Play a role in funding UW-Madison’s valuable academics that help make the university as reputable and outstanding as it is. Whether you are interested in supporting the English Program, other humanities programs and departments, or the College of Letters and Sciences as a whole through their Annual Fund, there are many opportunities to give. The gift of supporting education is an immensely cherished one, which is guaranteed to feed an endless line of students who are immensely grateful for such support.
This April 14th, embrace the badger spirit! Join the UW-Madison community to celebrate and support the university, the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and family who make the Wisconsin Experience what it is.
