Elaine Cannell, a PhD candidate in literary studies, has been awarded a campus-wide teaching assistant award for innovation in teaching. This award recognizes TAs who bring extraordinary creativity to their work and have developed or adapted teaching methods or techniques in new and innovative ways. To Elaine, innovative teaching means “not only deploying creative methods in any initial course design, but also maintaining the adaptability and passion to seek more effective pedagogical practices semester after semester.” During the pandemic, Elaine used Zoom to create smaller learning pods to facilitate a tight-knit community amongst her students. Congratulations Elaine!
